Our philosophy
Our vision is to be the most conscious within our genre and that our products will be used for both dressed-up and active moments.
The inspiration for our designs comes from the environment surrounding us in Sätila, located in the landscape of Västergötland, as well as the sea on the West Coast a few miles from us. The color palette is inspired by a combination of nature and the ocean. The Sandö sweater, for example, is inspired from the wild and windy sea area around the Kattegat, with its deep gray-blue colors and brown shades from the bladderwrack seaweed.
For us, a sustainable design means:
Being timeless
Our collection aims to be timeless, with a significant portion of products from previous seasons. Our vision is for our products to be by your side for many years to come, which is why we focus on designs that stand the test of time. The foundation of our collection consists of a muted color palette that will last over multiple seasons and complement a majority of wardrobes.
Making wise material choices
The majority of our yarn qualities are produced in Europe. Our commitment is to continue making wise material choices, with focus on keep transitioning to pure natural fibers and minimizing the use of synthetic materials. Which makes it easier to recycle old Sätila favorites into new products.
Being versatile
The majority of the environmental impact occurs during the production stage and the best thing we can do for the environment is to use the products we purchase for a long time. Our products are designed to be versatile and suitable for various occasions. Wear your favorite sweater in the nature, at the office, during a sunset barbecue—your imagination is the only limit.
Our testing group helps us become even better
In the fall of 2022 we started a testing group that tests all our new garments and accessories, providing us with the opportunity to further improve our products before they reach the consumer. The garment is tested over a two-month period, being worn nearly every day. The testing period ends with a thorough review that covers many various aspects. We carefully evaluate the garment based on the testers feedback, as well as a visual inspection of its appearance and feeling. Do we need to make any improvements regarding the design, material selection, manufacturing, or fit?
Increasing lifespan is the key to reducing environmental impact
We strive to avoid overproduction and to make the most of available resources. We never throw or burn garments that have been returned or that isn't 100% correct after production. We repair the defects and then sell the items in our factory outlet. It's also important for us to manage leftover yarns, which we do by using is as linings in our hats or using them for new products in small, unique series.
